Software Engineer, Card Digital Servicing Capital One Tech

What’s your current role? I am a Software Engineer in the Card Technology organization.

What are you working on? I develop technology features to service our credit card customers on the Capital One website. I’m currently developing a microservice solution for the millions of customers on our credit card servicing website using various technologies like Amazon Web Services (AWS).

What did you study at college? I studied Computer Engineering at Vanderbilt University.

How did you end up doing what you’re doing today? Growing up in the Silicon Valley, I was introduced to technology at a young age. It wasn’t until I took my first computer science course that I realized how much I loved applying my math and problem solving skills to develop real-world solutions. I was introduced to Capital One at a career fair and joined their rotational Technology Development Program after graduation.

Cool part of your job. This summer, I participated in a company-wide hackathon to promote reusable technology solutions at Capital One. Our serverless application automatically recognizes associates for their contributions by integrating various platforms platform. My team’s project was selected as a finalist and now we’re going to present to our CTO for a chance to win a cash prize!

Best career advice you’ve been given. Assume positive intent. This mentality creates a culture of understanding, patience and trust where it is okay to fail.

If you’re headed to #GHC18 come meet the Capital One team —

and I personally look forward to meeting you on Thursday, September 27 in the Career Fair expo at the Capital One Booth at 1:15 pm #CapitalOnePartner
