The Final Four Days — Of 30 Days of Networking

30 days hath the month of April — and last month I challenged myself to post a network-building suggestion every single day — selected from one of the special theme(s) of the day (yes, there are many many special unofficial holidays every month).

As I’ve shared in the four prior posts, while a lot of life is on pause, building connections is not — and as old modes of networking aren’t on the calendar, network-building efforts need a dose of creativity. Creativity does thrive in constraints — and your networking can too!

My intent with these daily posts was to encourage you to continue to connect, in consistent, manageable, ways with people in your life.

Below is a rundown of the my final posts in the 30 days of network-building suggestions.

Day 27 of #BYDN #30DaysOfNetworking and it’s tell a story day. It is a day to celebrate story-telling. Any kind of story — fiction, non-fiction — can you share a memory or write a book review today?

Stories connect us, so this is a good #network-building day.

Or how about finessing your own story. Update your social profiles? Finally create a digital presence? Launch a personal website? Edit or re-write your online bio?

If you’re a “brand” is your story building an emotional connection with your target audience? If not, perhaps today you should get your story straight. Check out Nucleus report “Connecting In An Isolated World: How Brands Rise To The Call In Crisis”.

Today take time to reflect, ponder and “unearth your story” as my friend Ian Sanders of The Ian Sanders Company would say.

Day 28 of #BYDN #30DaysOfNetworkBuilding and it’s Great Poetry Reading Day

Here are a few suggestions to connect today (and celebrate poetry, whether it’s great poetry or not):

- Share a poem
- Hold a digital poetry reading hour or party
- Write your own poetry….or send a theme and invite your friends to submit their own original Haiku.

And random trivia for Poetry Reading Day. The statute on The Mall (aka Poet’s Walk) in Central Park of Fitz-Greene Halleck — — who is that you say???

Fitz-Greene Halleck was “a 19th-century poet and essayist most known for his satirical and romantic verse” who had some celebrity back in the day and supposedly was a fav of President Lincoln.

Day 29 of #BYDN #30DaysOfNetworkBuilding and it’s National Zipper Day.

My networking advice today: ZIP IT!

Use your ears more than your mouth today. You’ll learn a lot about other people, how to connect with them and your impact on personal dynamics, by just listening.

No if’s, ands, but’s or I concur or other unnecessary reply all emails today. Zip it! and if tomorrow your network still needs you to chime in with your thoughts on the matter, do so.

And we’ve made it to Day 30 of #BYDN #30DaysofNetworkBuilding — — the last day! And it’s National Honesty Day.

I’ll be honest. This #BYDN #30DaysofNetworkBuilding was a challenging initiative. Committing to doing it. Coming up with new ideas. Posting regardless of anyone reading the posts or implementing the ideas.

Hat’s off to those who have undertaken 100 Day Projects! I’m honestly impressed.

Maybe today, just be honest with yourself. Take a look at projects you’ve committed to or pushed aside. Whether you’re struggling with your choices or thriving in them, be honest.

I’m going to take a good, long, honest look at how I’ve spent my time these past 30 days — and use that as a roadmap for the next 30.
